Here are some tips to ensure your animals are safe and secure:
  • Contain your animal in your house or garage overnight; ensure there is a comfortable bed, plenty of water and some food.
  • It is advisable to close the curtains and turn on the TV or radio to provide some distraction.
  • Leave your pet with a friend or family member who is not going out.
  • Ensure your pet wears appropriate identification at all times, just in case they do escape.

If your dog becomes distressed during fireworks or thunder, speak to your local veterinarian as they may be able to recommend something to help keep animals calm.

I want to view the fireworks display from my boat on the Brisbane River. How can I get permission to do so?

In the interest of public safety and in accordance with the Queensland Fireworks Code, Marine Safety Queensland closes sections of the Brisbane River during Sunsuper Riverfire (between Mowbray Park, East Brisbane and Cribb Street, Milton from 5.00pm to 8.45pm on Saturday 3 September) and regulations are put in place to manage the spectator fleet attending the event. This includes three dedicated mooring zones in the Town and South Brisbane Reaches of the river with a strictly limited number of private vessel mooring positions. Only private vessels who have obtained an Entry Permit Flag will be permitted into the closed area of the river.

All Entry Permit Flags have been distributed for 2011. Information about any process for 2012, will be available on this website in April 2012.
