Road, bridge and river closures
Information for Sunsuper Riverfire
On Saturday 29 September 2012 there will be extensive road, river and bridge closures throughout the City, South Brisbane, Kangaroo Point and Fortitude Valley areas, along with changes to public transport schedules.
Parklife will be held in the City Botanic Gardens and Riverstage. The City Botanic Gardens will be closed with no access to the riverside path and the Boardwalk between Alice Street and The Goodwill Bridge.
Bridge Closures
- Captain Cook Bridge: open all times

Goodwill Bridge: 5.30pm – 7.30pm
Closed, no access. -
Kurilpa Bridge: 5.30pm – 7.30pm
Closed, no access. -
Story Bridge: 6.20pm – 8pm
Closed to all traffic (including pedestrians).
Western (city side) footpath closed from 2am on Friday 28 September to 8.30pm on Saturday 30 September.
Eastern footpath closed from 6.20pm – 8pm. -
Victoria Bridge: 4pm – 11pm
Traffic lanes closed and open for pedestrians from 5pm – 9.30pm.
Western footpath (Museum side) closed to pedestrians from 5.30pm – 11pm.
Eastern footpath (South Bank side) remains open at all times. -
Clem7 Tunnel and Go Between
The toll on the Go Between Bridge will be waived between 4pm and 12midnight.
The Clem7 and Airportlink Tunnels will operate as normal.
River Closures

Brisbane River: 5pm – 8.45pm
Closed to all traffic between Mowbray Park, East Brisbane and Cribb Street, Milton (enforcement agency vessels accepted). -
CityCats and Cityferry services will cease operations from 6.45pm – 7.45pm
QUT CityCat terminal will remain closed until resumption of normal services on Sunday 30 September.
The Holman Street, Eagle Street, Thornton Street and the Inner Cityferry services will cease operations from 6.45pm – 8.15pm.
Due to the popularity of the CityCat service it is recommended patrons travel early to avoid delays and disappointment.

Adelaide Street: 4pm – 11pm
Closed between George Street and North Quay to south bound traffic (Translink buses accepted). -
George Street: 7.30pm – 8.30pm
Closed to all traffic between Elizabeth Street and Burnett Lane. -
North Quay: 4pm – 11pm
Closed between Ann and Queen Streets (general traffic diverted into Turbot Street or onto the Riverside Expressway at Ann Street). Mecure Hotel guests accepted.
North Quay bus services access to Elizabeth Street will be via Adelaide, Edward and Elizabeth Streets from 4pm – 8.30pm. Call Translink on 13 12 30 for bus stop locations. -
Queens Wharf Road: 4pm – 11pm
Closed between William Street and the turnaround behind the Commissariat Stores. -
William Street: 4pm – 11pm
Closed to all traffic between Queen and Elizabeth Streets (Translink buses accepted 8.30pm – 11pm).
Fortitude Valley

No Access to Story Bridge: 6.20pm – 8pm
From Ann, Boundary, Brunswick, Harrison, Ivory, Martin and Gipps Streets. -
Bowen Terrace: 6.30pm – 8.30pm
Closed between the Story Bridge and Bowen Street to improve safety at the popular Wilson’s Lookout. -

Closed with access open to local residents only.
Kangaroo Point

Pedestrian stairs at Kangaroo Point Cliffs Lookout: 7pm – 7.30pm
Pedestrian stairs adjacent to the Lookout and Cliffs Café linking Lower River Terrace/Service Road and River Terrace are closed.

No standing any time – tow away zone (access allowed for residents upon proof of residency and Brisbane Jazz Club accredited vehicles). -

A two minute drop off zone will be established between Mackenzie and Wicklow Streets.

- South Bank Cinemas and Thiess Building – between 4pm – 7.15pm, NO ACCESS to Grey Street, access only via Merivale and Ernest Streets. NO ACCESS after 7.15pm until 9:30pm.

Mt Gravatt Lookout
- Closed to all traffic at Shire Road and Gosford Street from 3pm – 9pm (Echidna Magic Restaurant function guests will be granted access).
Mt Coot-tha Lookout
- All traffic to the Mt Coot-tha Summit must travel counter clockwise along Sir Samuel Griffith Drive under police supervision from 4.30pm – 9pm.
Spectator vessels on the Brisbane River
- In the interest of public safety and in accordance with the Queensland Fireworks Code, the Brisbane River will be closed between Mowbray Park, East Brisbane and Cribb Street, Milton from 5pm until 8.45pm.
- Three dedicated Spectator Mooring Zones will be established in the South Brisbane and Town Reaches of the river for a limited number of private vessels who have obtained an Entry Permit Flag.
- Only Entry Permit Flag holders will be permitted into the closed area.
- All Entry Permit Flags have already been distributed.

Saturday 8 - Friday 28 September 2012
- Temporary closures will occur in the South Bank Reach of the river between the Victoria and Goodwill Bridges each evening.
- No spectator vessels are permitted to moor within the closed areas.
- Queensland Water Police will close and monitor the area nightly.
- Minor delays may be experienced on the Citycat and Cityferry services during performance times.
