Alice 21
Brisbane Festival 2008

alice 21 is a FREE outdoor production about an urban teenage girl’s search for her individual identity in the 21st century.

This world premiere commissioned by Brisbane Festival 2008 and written and directed by Brisbane artists Stephen Rowan and Linda Hassall is contemporary music-theatre experience incorporating multimedia, dance, great music and punchy dialogue.

Taking the premise from Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland alice 21 explores youth culture through Alice’s eyes. Finding a niche culture affects all aspects of Alice’s life – the clothes she wears, the peer group she hangs with, the friends she rejects, what she should be rebelling against and the music she listens to!

Join us as we follow Alice on her tragic/comic journey through this curious age!
