Over three weekends Brisbane Festival 2008 is taking a giant leap over the fence and into our suburban backyards to bring you the ultimate backyard party.
Through 8 intimate events, Brisbane Festival 2008, co-hosted with local residents, will for the first time celebrate the quintessential Brisbane backyard ‘get-together’. Sit under the stars, amongst the roses and in the shadow of the hills-hoist as you and your neighbour indulge in some of the finest live music from Australia and around the globe.
Pop over with your family, blanket and sense of adventure. It’s the perfect opportunity to have a barbeque in a Brissy backyard while you enjoy the Brisbane Festival 2008 version of backyard music! Everyone is invited, however it is essential to book.
Everton Park
Mikelangelo
Friday 25 July

Brisbane Festival with Diane Davies invite you to see Mikelangelo in her backyard in Everton Park. Mikelangelo commands the stage with his thunderous baritone; part-ringmaster, part-crooner, part-beast-possessed. A prolific songwriter of the highest calibre, he plumbs the metaphysical depths and creates an exotic storybook filled with tales that are at once inviting and foreboding. This event is BYO there will be a sausage, soup and stew fundraiser stall open from 3.30pm raising money for the Hush for the Homeless campaign for Mission Australia.

Gates Open: 3.30pm. Join your hosts for a sausage sizzle & refreshments which will be on sale, with proceeds supporting St Sebastian’s Catholic School.

Brisbane Festival with Clark and Melissa Anderson invite you to see Bowjangles in their backyard in Yeronga. London busking group Bowjangles blend classical, gypsy and popular tunes in a unique way setting them aside from any other string group you have ever seen.
Blanket and cushions recommended. There will be a fundraising sausage sizzle held during the event to raise money for the local school. Light refreshments will also be served. This event is alcohol free.
