"The integration of beats, synths, strings and piano offers an uninterrupted, textured suite that is as assured as it is enveloping." (musicOMH.com)
"It might not be much in the way of a surprise for those who’ve listened to ‘Thrown’ or ‘Looped’, but working from divergent influences is rarely simple, and Kiasmos iterates on the ideas explored in these earlier tunes with serious skill, electronic and traditional influences so tightly woven together that the LP maintains a very definite sense of identity throughout, and is pretty much impossible to poke holes in." (Drowned In Sound)
Kiasmos is made up of Icelandic BAFTA-winning composer Ólafur Arnalds, known for his unique blend of minimal piano and string compositions with electronic sounds, and Janus Rasmussen from the Faroe Islands, known as the mastermind of the electro-pop outfit Bloodgroup.
Ólafur and Janus have been able to combine and develop a unique sound aesthetic driven by their mutual love for electronic music.
Don’t miss a spine-tingling performance you won’t forget. Just ask those who experienced Olafur Arnalds at Brisbane Festival in 2013.
“The real magicians are the artists who can transport you to unknown landscapes. Ólafur Arnalds and Janus Rasmussen do precisely this on their collaborative debut.” (London Underground Live Review)

Based in Reykjavík, Arnalds used to work as a sound engineer, often for Rasmussen's other projects, where the two musicians discovered their common love for minimal, experimental music. They eventually became best friends, often hanging out in their studio, exploring electronic sounds.
With a beauty as arresting as their own stark Atlantic hinterland, Iceland’s Ólafur Arnalds and Faroese musician Janus Rasmussen have broken our hearts. (Clash Music) - View article
at first listen Kiasmos feels like a laying-down of ground rules – as if the pair are setting a safe benchmark from which they can make more experimental, more risky forays into this territory in the future. Listen to it a few more times, though, and you can’t help feeling like ‘safe’ for these guys really isn’t that safe. They just make it sound so easy. (Drowned In Sound) View article
