Directed by Chelsea McGuffin with the ensemble of Company 2 and Ethan Hugh.
Come step into Ethan’s world and experience the joy of walking through shafts of colour and light - a dazzling kaleidoscope.
Ethan was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome when he was four. Because of this syndrome, he perceives everything around him differently and wonderfully. Ethan understands the world through touch, sensing his surroundings with the pads of his fingers and the tips of his toes.
Kaleidoscope allows Ethan to express himself through a physical form he loves – circus. He is joined onstage by five circus performers and together they explore the colour, chaos and incredible beauty of his world through acrobatics, slapstick, music, movement and vibrant video projections.
Prior to the show, patrons are invited to explore the free play space located in the Cremorne Balcony Foyer.
Post-show workshops for 5-13 year olds available.

Question Time (8-13 year olds)
Wed 27 Sept, 2:45-3:45pm
Thinking, writing, asking, creating and circus skills.
Young people love to ask questions and understand the ‘why’. Question Time offers participants a creative space in which all questions can be asked. Participants are encouraged to think out loud – discussing and sharing their ideas and questions with others. If the question is too hard to ask, the body may find another way - by shouting, by writing on the walls, or by hanging from the roof or spinning through the air. This workshop explores voice, ideas, thinking and circus skills, including aerials, manipulation and partner work.
Rumble Tumble (5-7 year olds)
Thu 28 Sept, 2:45pm-3:45pm
Calling all pillow fighters... the time has come. Wear a costume. Warm up. Stretch out. Introduce yourself. Develop your character. Learn the rules. Explore the possibilities of tumbling and get ready to rumble. This workshop explores tumbling and acrobatics, character, costumes, and playing safe while taking risks. Warning: this workshop involves feathers and will get messy.
Kaleidoscope is a sensory-sensitive work offering a relaxed show environment. Kaleidoscope is welcoming of wriggles and giggles that come with each family. Our friendly front of house staff can assist patrons needing to take a break during the performance. Patrons are encouraged to download and print the Kaleidoscope relaxed notes to facilitate comfort for children with AD.
Audience members requiring assistance at the venue are encouraged to alert QTIX on 136 246.
