Compagnia Finzi Pasca (SWITZERLAND)

Written and directed by Daniele Finzi Pasca

Australian Premiere Exclusive to Brisbane

"First and foremost it is an act of love – generous, passionate, personal – which is difficult to respond to with the logic of a review." La Regione
"Regales us with enchantment and magic… a show where you laugh and cry, where you are moved and smile."

Dedicated to you, dear Julie.

From one of the world’s great performance companies – and creators of last year’s La Verità – comes this exclusive Australian premiere of astonishing circus and physical theatre.

A gutted stage. Around a red bench in a garden, acrobats stand in medieval armour. Thirty kilograms of steel transform every move into a battle of resistance and strength. It is three months before the premiere of their show. They remember Julie, their friend and great visionary.

Through exquisite images of words and music, shared humour, and a beautiful storm of flying objects, they build an inner garden where we may take shelter. This is a story for you - a light-filled hymn to life, to the amazing power of theatre and imagination, and to the fundamental importance of friendship in our tempest-tossed lives.

Julie Hamelin Finzi

Julie led an exceptional career. At 21, she cofounded Cirque Éloize in Montreal. The shows she produced put the company on the most renowned stages worldwide thanks to her strategic approach as International Development Director.  The moment to make her own path with Daniele, her artistic and life partner, came when they cofounded Inlevitas in 2010. A year later, Inlevitas and Teatro Sunil become Compagnia Finzi Pasca.

Besides her extraordinary ability to bring forward projects no matter the circumstances and her achievements, we will always remember the kind person she was: her generosity, her tenderness, her empathy, her lightness, her passion and her natural smile that brought much joy to people around the world. She left us many beautiful projects, a bunch of cherished memories but a deep emptiness in our hearts. Thank you, dear Julie.
