Celebrate everything African as Brisbane's vibrant community gets together for a free, one-day festival, which promises fantastic food and heavenly singing, dancing and drumming.
Dance all day to an amazing line up including King Marong and Afro Mandinko. A massive drumming collective kicks off the afternoon with a banging beat and then the 200-strong Into Africa Choir is joined by Dinka Blues diva Ajak Kwai for a moving and powerful tribute to African legend Miriam Makeba set to make souls soar.
Don’t miss the impressive local talents of Samoko and Afro Dizzi Act with Jali Baba Luyateh before the ferocious power of renowned Nigerian musician and political activist Anikulapo Fela Kuti comes alive in the stellar music of The Big Fela Afrobeat Orchestra, who will keep the crowd pumping as the sun sets on Yeronga Park.
Anyone wanting a break from dancing can visit the countless food and craft stalls or take part in the free hair wrapping, dancing, drumming and body art workshops held throughout the day.
