Kim Carpenter's Theatre of Image (AUS)
Monkey is the tale of four mismatched pilgrims - the undisciplined, disruptive and semi-divine Monkey, the anxious mortal monk Tripitaka, the rude and rapacious Pigsy, and the sincere but slow monster Sandy - as they overcome impossible odds on their journey from China to India to obtain sacred scriptures and enlightenment.
The creation of Kim Carpenter’s multi-award-winning Theatre of Image, this highly visual and physical production combines comedy, music, song and spectacular martial arts.
Co-directed by John Bell (Bell Shakespeare) and Kim Carpenter and written by Donna Abela, Monkey features an Asian-Australian cast including Parkour Group, Team9lives and Darren Gilshenan (The Moodys – ABC-TV) along with over 10 songs by composer/musician Peter Kennard who will play live on stage.
Bring the family on an adventure with Monkey and his friends and live the magic!
