Brisbane Festival and Treasury Casino & Hotel join forces with Everybody NOW! to create an exciting new pop-up venue in Queens Park.
This sparkling new space will host our Opening Night kick-off and eight nights of the new kick-up-your-heels interactive dance experience – You Should Be Dancing.
Freestyle your way through the ultimate mega mix of dancing styles in a series of free social dance nights for everyone, featuring a different dance style each night.
A charming Emcee, a Dance Captain Deluxe and a fleet of "Local Dance Legends" will strut their stuff and get you moving in a specially decked out space in Queens Park.
Opening with a dance lesson and followed by a non-stop, exhilarating night on the dance floor, You Should Be Dancing is your invitation to party, feel the rhythm, embrace the romance and dance, Brisbane.

Opening Night - The Ultimate Dancing Mega Mix!
A celebration that will get this party started - featuring a live band and the most diverse collection of dancers Brisbane has to offer. Throw on some sparkles and your best threads for a dance through decades.

Kate McDonald – Creative Producer
Kate is a producer of performance, festivals, community cultural development and cross art-form projects. She has worked across Australia for leading arts organisations such as MONA FOMA, Salamanca Arts Centre, Woodford Folk Festival and is currently the Associate Director of the Gold Coast’s Bleach* Festival. Kate has a passion for site-specific works, spectacle theatre, community engagement and creating participatory and immersive arts where audiences are co-creators of their creative experience. Kate is the conceiver and member of “Everybody Now”, the creators of “The Inaugural Annual Dance Affair” which is continuing national and international presentations.
Ian Pidd – Emcee / Director
Ian Pidd is a freelance director of theatre and festivals. His practice veers between programming festivals (The Village, The Falls), directing theatre (Men Of Steel's Hard Rubbish, Various Polyglot and Snuff puppet projects) and participatory "things" (Wheeler Centre's 20 Questions, Dookie Earthed). His work tends to be musical, accessible, playful and genre hopping, and is regularly seen throughout Australia, Europe and Asia. Ian is a member of “Everybody Now”, the creators of “The Inaugural Annual Dance Affair.”
Bec Reid – Dance Captain / Choreographer / Community Liaison
Bec is a performer, producer, director, choreographer and engagement specialist. Bec encourages people to see their world in new ways through highly physical, participatory, practical, collaborative and celebratory actions. Passionate in the space where professional artists and communities of interest meet, Bec has collaborated with community and artists, presenting works nationally and internationally. Together with Tristan Meecham, Bec is All The Queens Men. She is also a member of “Everybody Now”, the creators of “The Inaugural Annual Dance Affair.” Bec’s true loves are Staffordshire Bull Terriers and dancing.
