Public Transport

Public transport services are available at a walking distance with Translink bus services stopping in the area. The South Brisbane train station and Cultural Centre busway are also located a 15-minute walk away.

There is on street parking available, and Secure Parking located at 10 Browning Street, West End.


#Accessibility

Venue Access

The easiest way to access Metro Arts is to enter West Village from Boundary Street, wander through the garden area, and make your way down Factory Lane. New Benner Theatre is completely accessible from the foyer via elevator. The New Benner is a flat floor black box theatre which is completely accessible from the foyer via elevator.

Metro Arts gallery spaces are located on ground floor with no steps or lips and are wheelchair accessible. Metro Arts studios are flat floor spaces, completely wheelchair accessible via an elevator.

Parking

West Village has 450 on-site parking bays that are free for two hours and accessible via Mollison Street. Access from the car park to the West Village precinct via elevator or escalators. Flat ground, a short walk from elevator/escalator to Metro Arts. Elevator from Metro Arts foyer to New Benner Theatre.

Accessible Toilets

Bathrooms are accessed via factory lane, next to Metro Arts bar and box office (wheelchair accessible).

Accessible Seating

Theatre-accessible seating is allocated in the front row (partial seats removed for wheelchair, flat floor access). All seating in foyer/bar is not fixed so accessible seating can be where ever needed. Green room is flat floor and furniture is moveable as needed.

Assisted Listening

Hearing Loops are available upon request at the box office. We have 12 in stock.
For assisted listening for hearing-impaired patrons: radio transmitters and portable headphones that link into the stage relay microphone to provide amplified sound to patrons.

Ear plug availability

Ear plugs are located on the box office counter free of charge.

Other Info

Access to Metro Arts is through the West Village precinct and into Factory Lane. Pathways around the West Village precinct are uneven cobblestone and brick. The theatre is a black box theatre with raised seating bank. The front row is on the ground floor with no steps to access. The theatre is accessible from the box office and foyer via elevator, with no steps or lifts. Doors are open during admittance to the theatre and an usher is available to assist with doors during the show.

The Metro Arts' bar is located in the laneway/foyer. There is no low counter at the bar. T-Switch Hearing loop is available in the foyer and theatre.

The Galleries are accessed directly from Factory Lane. Doors are open during business hours for easy access.

Metro Arts' studios are located on Level 1 of the Ice Cream Factory, which is accessible by elevator. Doors are open during admittance and an Usher is available to assist with doors during the event.

Alternatively, Patrons who have purchased an accessible ticket before or request an accessible ticketing account, can log into their account and purchase said tickets online.
