If You're Ready to be WowedAustralian PremiereCircusDancePhysical Theatre
Presented by Brisbane Festival in association with Queensland Performing Arts Centre
escape-credit-george-simian

A boundary-breaking fusion of human movement and physical structures.

This is a show that will leave you breathless. Visceral and high-octane, ESCAPE blends complex, moving architectural structures with multi-talented performers to create a blood-pumping and emotional multimedia experience.

Along with DIAVOLO’s signature athletic movement aesthetic, ESCAPE features a collection of the company’s most famous architectural structures. Each evokes a story unique to its design, echoing themes of exploration, danger, fear, survival, resilience, and connection, all brought to life through a soundtrack spanning decades and genres, from pop and EDM to rock.

Interacting with these incredible structures, the performers escape their ordinary lives into a surreal landscape of infinite possibilities, driven by extreme determination, joy, and collaboration.

DIAVOLO | Architecture in Motion® productions explore innovation and celebrate the complexity of the human condition with an undefinable blend of dance, stunt work, acrobatics, circus arts, and pedestrian movement. The work is athletic, captivating, and visceral.

Reviews

ESCAPE is truly a testament to the power of art and the human spirit—and one of the coolest pieces of live theater I’ve seen in years….. In all, I loved everything about DIAVOLO. To me, it embodied the essence of humanity: its longing, its passion, and most of all, its creativity. At a time when even the creative world is flirting with AI to evolve, ESCAPE delivers something beautifully and unmistakably human—something that could only come from a soul.

Melissa Heckscher, Broadway World

To say that the show was engaging, or spectacular is an understatement

Brian Fretté, LA Dance Chronicle

DIAVOLO’s choreography reveals its rigor—intricate, disciplined, and visually compelling. Their staging rivals that of companies devoted solely to dance, yet DIAVOLO expands the form by integrating danger as an essential compositional element.
