Are You Brisbane’s Timothée Chalamet?

Brisbane, we need your cheekbones. Salad Days Collective is riding into Brisbane Festival with the Australian premiere of The Natural Horse, and to mark the occasion, we’re launching Brisbane’s very first Timothée Chalamet Lookalike Competition.

Now, you may be asking, why Timothée? The answer lies in the strange and hilarious world of The Natural Horse. Without giving too much away, Svetka is pregnant, and Lil G and Masha have already chosen the name. They’ve called the baby Timothée, after none other than Timothée Chalamet himself. It’s the kind of bizarre and oddly tender moment that sums up the heart of this play: chaotic, surreal, and ridiculously hilarious. So, what better way to celebrate than by searching for Brisbane’s best Chalamet lookalike?

How does it work?

To enter, you need to be in attendance at The Natural Horse on Thursday, 26 September at 7.30pm. Throughout the night, we’ll be on the lookout for the best Chalamet-inspired energy in the crowd. Maybe it’s your brooding stare, your enviable mop of hair, or just the aura of someone who could definitely be the lead love interest.

A shortlist of “Timothées” will be chosen live on the night and invited to strut their stuff in front of the audience. The crowd will then vote to crown Brisbane’s ultimate Chalamet doppelgänger. The winner will take home bragging rights and Salad Days Collective merch, and the glory of being immortalised as Brisbane’s very own Timothée.

Why Timothée Chalamet?

In the play, Timothée is both a name for an unborn child and a cultural touchstone. Chalamet has become an icon of delicate coolness, a figure who floats between high art and pop culture, blockbusters and intimate films. He represents a certain cultural mood: beautiful, brooding, and just a little absurd. That’s exactly what The Natural Horse plays with on stage.

And let’s face it, every friend group has at least one person who’s been told, “You kind of look like Timothée Chalamet.” This is their chance to finally shine.

About the Show

The Natural Horse is Salad Days Collective’s latest creation, presented as part of Brisbane Festival. It’s a surreal comedy that gallops through questions of identity, desire, and what it means to try to control the uncontrollable. Horses, humans, and a healthy dose of absurdity collide to create a theatrical event that’s as funny as it is unsettling. And yes, an unborn baby named Timothée has a starring role in all the chaos.

Get Involved

Think you have what it takes to be Brisbane’s Timothée? Whether it’s the jawline, the hair, or simply the mysterious air of someone who looks like they’ve just stepped out of a European arthouse film, we want to see it.

Saddle up for the competition, and join us for The Natural Horse. After all, in our world, everyone’s a little bit Timothée.

Brisbane Festival expresses deep respect to and acknowledges the First People of this Country.
