Best places to watch Riverfire by Australian Retirement Trust 2026
The Australian Defense Force Returns for Riverfire by Australian Retirement Trust
A Royal Australian Air Force F/A-18F Super Hornet and a C-17A Globemaster III will conduct flypasts and flying displays as part of Brisbane Festival’s annual celebrations.
There will also be an Australian Army ground display and Royal Australian Navy Band performances. Timings:
Date: Saturday, 5 September 2026 Time: Approximately 4:52pm for the C-17A Globemaster III Approximately 5:20pm for the F/A-18F Super Hornet
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Leave Drones at Home for Riverfire by Australian Retirement Trust Drones must not be flown in areas along the Brisbane River from St Lucia to New Farm during Riverfire by Australian Retirement Trust on Saturday, 5 September or during the rehearsal flights on Thursday, 3 September and Friday, 4 September.
Flying displays involve complex aircraft operations at relatively low levels and drones create unnecessary safety risks.
We ask all attendees to help keep the event safe by leaving drones at home and enjoying the show from the ground.
Drone flights may pose a significant risk to both the aircraft and people viewing the event on the ground.

Royal Australian Air Force Rehearsal Flights
Two Royal Australian Air Force F/A-18F Super Hornets and one C-17A Globemaster III will conduct rehearsal flights in the lead-up to the Brisbane Festival’s annual Riverfire by Australian Retirement Trust, on Thursday 3 and Friday 4 September 2026.
C-17 GLOBEMASTER III Date: Thursday, 3 September 2026 Time: Approximately 12:30pm Venue: Brisbane CBD (Victoria Bridge precinct), Queensland
F/A-18F SUPER HORNETS Date: Friday, 4 September 2026 Time: Approximately 12:30pm (two individual rehearsal flights will occur around 20-30 minutes apart) Venue: Victoria Bridge, Brisbane, Queensland
