The Mervyn Moriarty Landscape Exhibition
The Queensland Regional Art Awards (QRAA) are Flying Arts’ signature annual art awards established in 2011, open to artists living in regional Queensland. The QRAA is Australia’s largest regional art award and showcases new artworks, providing artists with both cash prizes and career changing professional development opportunities, including solo exhibitions and residencies.
The theme of this year's exhibition is Momentum. Continuous forward movement requires great balance. In keeping up with a fast-paced society, art provides a space of reflection and innovation. Critique and reflection through art and culture is what maintains the forward movement of our society. Each well resolved artwork is propelled forward by iteration on the last and builds on history and legacy in the arts.
The Mervyn Moriarty Landscape Award is an award category of the QRAA and is named in honour of its founder Mervyn Moriarty OAM. The Mervyn Moriarty Landscape Exhibition was inaugurated in 2021 as a separate touring exhibition of selected entries in the QRAA.
