SUNA TOK TOK
Celebrate 50 years of Papua New Guinea’s independence with a free day of art, talks, performances, and food.
Join us for a day of free events and celebrations as we mark 50 years of Papua New Guinea’s independence. Explore artist Yuriyal Bridgeman’s large-scale installation SUNA (Middle Ground), enjoy food, talks and sing sings, and catch up with family and friends on the UQ Art Museum lawn.
SUNA (Middle Ground) brings a replica of a raun haus – a traditional Papua New Guinea Highlands round house – to the UQ St Lucia campus. A place of safety, rest, and creativity it represents the raun haus that is home to the artist and his extended family, the Yuri Alaiku tribe, as well being the heart of his renowned artistic practice in the Waghi Valley, Papua New Guinea.
