Brisbane Festival and QUT present

The Bluebird Mechanicals

17 - 21 Sept | Theatre Republic - The Block

Too Close to the Sun (CAN/AUS)

"★★★★ ½ A masterpiece… a work that needs to be seen." ARTS HUB

A visionary new work about Chekhov, climate change and the end of the world.

The Bluebird Mechanicals weaves together seemingly disparate elements – Kostya’s ghost in the aftermath of Chekhov’s The Seagull, the final fiery flight of the Hindenburg, and the omniscience of birds – into a devastating climax. The world is unravelling. Sing a song, dance along!

Blurring the line between the real and the imagined, the animate and the intimate, this spellbinding work combines puppetry, projection and beautiful prose.

This performance uses contained pyrotechnics and gunshot sounds. Suitable for audiences 13+ years.
