Us And All Of This

Unfolding momentarily on the Brisbane Powerhouse Forecourt, this large-scale sculptural performance offers a rare moment of calm reflection, gathering 100 people from all walks of life to move together as one. 

Created by Liesel Zink with sound artist Lawrence English, this mesmerising dance performance explores assembly and collectivity as an antidote to a capitalistic era of over-productivity, disembodiment, and dislocation. 

Us And All Of This rejects the positioning of humans as something separate to the environment, and challenges the fast-paced, isolated structure of society. Performers move with the landscape and each other, acknowledging our place as one part of a complex ecology, in a ritual of coming together.

Be a part of this dance artwork! 

We are looking for 100 willing and curious humans who love to move and are keen to be involved in the community dance performance, Us And All Of This. These volunteers will be of various ages, ethnicities, genders, body types and abilities, and together they will form this meditative and sculptural performance in public space.

Prior dance experience is not essential as the work is designed to be accessible for beginners, you only need to be dance curious!

Your time commitment in 2024

First Rehearsal (Full Group): Sunday 4 Aug, time to be confirmed

Four Rehearsal Weekends Following: Saturdays Or Sundays: 10/11 Aug, 17/18 Aug, 24/25 Aug, 31 Aug/1 Sep

Choose your regular 3-hr rehearsal…

Group 1: Sat morning 9:30am – 12:30pm

Group 2: Sat afternoon 1:30pm – 4:30pm

Group 3: Sun morning 9:30am – 12:30pm

Group 4: Sun afternoon 1:30pm – 4:30pm

PRODUCTION DAYS (all times to be confirmed)

Technical Rehearsal – Sunday Sep 8

Participants needed for approx. 6 hours between 10am-4pm

Dress Rehearsal – Friday night Sep 13

Participants needed approx. 5:15pm-9pm

Days run from approx. 3pm to 7pm with performances at 4:15pm
